PREMIO 2020 AL LIBRO CUALITATIVO EN ESPAÑOL O PORTUGUÉS
Llamado a postulaciones
Este premio se otorga cada dos años a un integrante de la comunidad cualitativa o etnográfica que haya publicado el libro en español o portugués que represente la mejor y más importante contribución a los estudios cualitativos.
Para ser candidato al premio, los libros tendrán que haber sido publicados en los años 2017, 2018 o 2019. NO serán reimpresiones, reediciones, colecciones, monografías, traducciones o antologías. En el caso de que el libro sea un manual o libro de texto, solamente será considerado si su contenido muestra aspectos originales de la metodología cualitativa y si la presentación logra innovación, escritura creativa, avance pedagógico crítico y eficiencia didáctica. El libro podrá tener uno o varios autores. En caso de que haya varios autores, todos los autores de todos los capítulos serán co-autores principales que elaboran o aportan de manera progresiva a una idea común. La obra se enfocará en la utilización y avance de los métodos cualitativos para estudiar cualquier asunto o aspecto de los estudios cualitativos.
Los libros postulados serán dictaminados mediante el criterio de ‘significar una contribución mayor al estudio y práctica de acercamientos cualitativos para el entendimiento de la realidad’. Estos criterios pueden incluir aportes experimentales con formas de escritura nueva o tradicional; inclusión de reflexiones críticas en el proceso de escritura e investigación; contribuciones a la vida, de vidas llenas de significado; y adentramientos en la producción de un mundo de justicia social.
La consideración para el premio de libros publicados entre el año de 2017 y el de 2019 será exclusiva para libros escritos en español o portugués.
Solamente se otorgará un premio y, en su caso, una mención.
El premio se otorgará durante la reunión anual del Congreso Internacional de Investigación Cualitativa en Mayo de 2020.
El proceso de revisión inicia con el envío de una carta de postulación que describa el libro y exponga los argumentos que sustenten las contribuciones de la obra en el sentido de esta convocatoria. El Comité hará una primera selección a partir de esas cartas de postulación y se pondrá en contacto con los autores seleccionados para que envíen tres copias originales de los libros publicados (una para cada juez del Comité Internacional) y continuar con la revisión de los libros. Los postulantes harán los arreglos necesarios para enviar por correo las tres copias de la publicación al Comité de jurados que seleccionarán el libro premiado, SOLAMENTE SI EL COMITÉ SE LOS SOLICITA. Esas copias NO SE REGRESARÁN a los postulantes.

2020 AWARD FOR QUALITATIVE BOOK IN SPANISH OR PORTUGUESE
Call for Nominations
This award will be conferred every two years to a member of the qualitative and ethnographic community who has published a Spanish or Portuguese-language book that best represents an important contribution to qualitative inquiry.
Eligible books should have been already published during the years 2017, 2018 and 2019. Submissions should not be re-editions, collections, monographs, translations, or anthologies. If the book is a handbook or textbook, it will only be considered when the contents show original aspects of qualitative methods and the presentation achieves innovation, creative writing, critical pedagogic advances, and didactic efficiency. The book may have one or several authors. For several authors, all authors of all single chapters should be the main authors progressively building upon a particular topic. The book will focus on the use and advance of qualitative methods to investigate any topic or aspect
of qualitative inquiry.
Applications for the award will be judged by criteria that signify a major contribution to the study and practice of qualitative approaches. Such criteria may include success in experimenting with new and traditional writing forms, inclusion of critical reflections on the writing and research process, contributions to living meaningful lives, and insights into creating a socially just world.
For the Spanish or Portuguese Qualitative Book Award, we will only consider nominations of books published between 2017 and 2019.
Only one award and eventually one mention will be awarded.
The award will be presented at the annual meeting of the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry in May 2020.
The submission process begins when the author sends a letter describing the book and arguments about the how the book contributes to QI in the context of this call of nominations. The Committee will make a first selection out of the nomination letters and will contact the selected authors. Authors are then expected to arrange for three (3) original copies of the published book to be mailed to the judges’ panel, to proceed with the review process ONLY if the Award Committee directly requires the copies from the authors. These copies WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO POSTULANT AUTHORS.
